Giuseppe Goffredo

Biography

The poet and writer Giuseppe Goffredo was born in Alberobello, Apulia, Italy. He has published the following works of poetry: Fra Muri e Sogni (Between Wall and Dreams), Torino, Einaudi 1982, Paesaggi di Maggio (May Landscapes) Milano, Mondadori, 1989; Elegie Empiriche (Empirical Elegies) Guerini e Associati, Milan, 1992; Alle Porte di Alessandria  Poesie 1977-2000 (At the Gates of Alexandria Poems 1977-2000), La Mongolfiera, 2003. An English translation of his poem “Sotto il Cielo di Baghdad (Under Baghdad’s Skies) was included in The New Review of Literature, volume 1, October 2003, “Contrade Madri di Aprile” ed. Lieto Colle, Milano, maggio 2007.

His works of fiction include “Il Cielo Sopra Baghdad. Diario di un Viaggio in Iraq (The Sky Above Baghdad. Diary of a Journey to Iraq, Poiesis Editrice 2006 (first issued by La Mongolfiera, 2003); romance " Con i fiori dei mandorli in faccia” (With the flowers of the almond tree in face) publishing Palomar, Bari, 2006.

Giuseppe Goffredo is the editor of the journal DA QUI. Piccola antologia della poesia e dei poeti mediterranei. (From Here. Short Anthology of Mediterranean Poets and Poetry), Editore Argo, Lecce, 1993;

His literary and political essays include Cadmo Cerca Europa – il Sud fra il Mediterraneo e l’Europa, (Cadmus is Looking for Europa – the South between the Mediterranean and Europe); Bollati Boringhieri Editore, Turin, 2000.
